How long have you been a stylist and what are your educational bragging rights?

Since entering the industry in 2007, I have received extended education from Redken, Bumble and Bumble, Nick Arrojo, Toni and Guy, Oribe, Paul Mitchell, Sexy Hair, Schwarzkopf, L’Oreal,  Kerastase, Joico, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics- to name a few. Clearly, I am not a one brand kind of gal. I am a strong believer that education is crucial to stay up on the latest trends and techniques, and my clients deserve a well-trained stylist/artist. I love when I get new clients who state that “finally” they got the look they had been seeking, and I know it because of my education that I can deliver just that.

What do you love about your craft? The industry is truly my passion and to make someone look and feel great about themselves is one of the most gratifying feelings I can have!  I live for seeing my clients leave happy and feeling better than they did when they came in. I’m also so blessed to have established such strong relationships with many of my clients and get to visit with not just whom I see as clients, but also as friends. Not only have these friendships changed my life, but I also believe that it is by building relationships with my clients that helps me perfect the cut, color, and style to each client’s specific needs and desires.

What have you learned from your clients?

I have learned that most do not make enough time for themselves, and that the salon visit is a treat for them.  I know that my clients are coming in to take care of themselves and I think they should be rewarded for that.  It is important for me to have my clients escape to an environment that is stress free, always positive,  and where they feel comfortable and receive some pampering.

   What do you specialize in?

I specialize in and educate myself in cut and color, and bridal styling and makeup.

What should clients look for when they are shopping for a stylist?

In addition to being experienced and well trained, I think the best stylists are warm, approachable, and humble, and who do not try to fit clients in too tight of a time frame, so they can give their best work to each client.

   Where do you find inspiration?

I am a people watcher. I am always studying people’s hair and makeup- when I am out and about, in

magazines, on TV, movies, Pinterest, and Instagram.

What charitable organizations do you feel passionate about?

I am passionate about dog rescue.  I love my own rescue dog, Rosie.  She is my dog love of my life, and I feel so thankful to ABC Rescue who took her in from being homeless.  It breaks my heart that there are dogs without their own loving home.

How do you spend your time when not knee deep into your craft?

When I am not in the salon, and not making my husband, kids and dog sick of loving on them, I’ve been working on my new passion of wedding design and event planning.  I developed interest in wedding design and planning when working onsite bridal hair and makeup, and getting to see the process of weddings come together.  Ultimately, I think I just love a beautiful transformation, whether it be hair/makeup, interior design, or event/photography staging. I recently founded Reno Tahoe Vintage Rentals, which was started for the goal of providing “icing on the cake rentals” to bring character and charm to events and photography shoots with one of a kind furniture and décor.  If you’re interested in seeing examples, check it out on Instagram @renotahoevintagerentals, at http://www.renotahoevintagerentals.com, or even come into the salon. I was given the privilege of assisting in designing the décor of Tribe Salon and to show case several of RTVR’s pieces in the salon.  Not only are the clients of Tribe leaving with style, but the salon itself is strong in style, creativity, local artisan-ship, and has so much character to it.  If you haven’t come to visit, you must!  You will fall in love!
